One of the World’s largest Social Security Organisations, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has asked all board members to be present at the 234th CBT meeting on next Tuesday likely to address Higher Pension issues.

Recently, EPFO has extended three months for Employers to upload wage details, etc. online latest by 31.12.2023 regarding Pensions on Higher Wages.

Earlier an online facility was made available by EPFO for submitting Applications for Validation of Options/Joint Options for pension on higher wages till 29.09.2023.

The facility was made available by EPFO for eligible pensioners/members in compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 04.11.2022. The facility was launched on 26.02.2023 and was to remain available only till 03.05.2023.

However, considering the representations of the employees, the time limit was extended to 26.06.2023 in order to provide a complete four months’ time to eligible pensioners/members for filing applications.

A last opportunity of 15 days was further given to remove any difficulty faced by the eligible pensioners/ members. Accordingly, the last date for submission of Applications for Validation of Options / Joint Options by employees was extended to 11.07.2023.

In view of representations received from Employers & Employers’ Associations wherein requests were made to extend the period for uploading wage details of applicant pensioners/members, the employers were also given a further period of three months to submit wage details, etc. online latest by 30.09.2023.

The request was considered sympathetically and the Chairman of Central Board of Trustees has extended the time, for the employers to submit wage details, etc till 31.12.2023.

As per the reports of the Business Standard, it is expected that Higher Pension may meet the agenda of the 234th CBT meeting.

The reports have also suggested that Executive Director Sougata Roy Choudhury, said, “The Supreme Court order on higher pensions has seen many delays and extensions and the matter is still underway.”

“The CBT at the upcoming meet will be to draw out a strategy and a clear pathway for a smooth implementation of the same, as a number of pensioners are still facing troubles in accessing the pension portal,” said Sougata Roy Choudhury added.
