Apple Inc. has publicly disclosed detailed salary ranges for a wide array of technical roles, including engineers, software developers, and data scientists.

The information comes from federal filings submitted to the U.S. Department of Labor in 2025, primarily related to foreign worker sponsorships.

While the figures exclude bonuses, stock grants, and other benefits, they offer valuable insight into Apple’s base pay strategy as it competes for top-tier talent in areas such as artificial intelligence, chip design, and product development.

Apple Salary Ranges Across Technical Disciplines

The filings reveal that Apple offers highly competitive base salaries, particularly for roles tied to next-generation hardware and software development.

Here’s a breakdown of some key positions:

  • Software Development Engineers: Up to $378,700
  • Machine Learning Engineers: Between $143,100 and $312,200
  • Data Scientists: Between $105,550 and $322,400
  • Hardware Systems Engineers: Up to $378,700
  • Human Interface Designers: Up to $468,500, the highest among disclosed roles

These figures reflect only the base annual compensation and do not include equity packages or performance-based bonuses, which are common in Apple’s overall remuneration structure.

AI Talent Retention and Competitive Pressures

Apple’s salary disclosure comes at a time when the company is facing challenges in retaining top AI talent.

Reports indicate that several senior AI researchers have recently moved to Meta, despite Apple increasing pay within its Apple Foundation Models (AFM) group.

The company’s AI assistant, Siri, remains a work in progress, with executives acknowledging that it still needs further development to match competitors’ offerings.

Despite these hurdles, Apple continues to be regarded as one of the most desirable workplaces in the tech industry.

CEO Tim Cook has emphasized the company’s inclusive hiring philosophy, stating, “We hire from all walks of life,” and highlighting values such as creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.
