Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced an 8% salary increase for 1.19 lakh contract employees in levels 1, 2, and 3 via the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRNL).

The revised pay scale will be effective from Monday, July 1, 2024. During a meeting attended by various labour unions and employees of the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRNL), Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a salary hike for contractual employees across different levels.

There are approximately 71,012 employees in level 1, 26,915 in level 2, and 21,934 in level 3, all hired under the contractual policy of Nigam. CM Saini emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing historical injustices, noting that earlier regimes had exploited contractual workers.

He highlighted instances where contractors failed to provide essential benefits such as EPF (Employee Provident Fund), ESI (Employee State Insurance), and benefits under labour fund schemes. Furthermore, these employees faced job insecurity as contractors had unchecked termination powers.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also emphasized efforts to ensure equity by extending reservation benefits to Scheduled Caste and Backward Class youth among the Nigam’s workforce. This move aims to rectify past disparities and enhance the welfare of contractual employees, promoting a fair and supportive work environment under the state’s governance.
