Does Work From Home End at TCS? Nope… It’s Hybrid Now

There are various media reports claiming that work from home ends at TCS after November 15, 2021 and creates an impression as all of its 528,748 employees returned back to office.

But it’s not true…

Actually, the company has taken the very first step towards bringing back employees to offices. TCS is encouraging employees to come back to deputed locations in an indication that it is preparing employees in the country to start working from offices by the end of this year.

For example, if anyone is deputed at TCS Mumbai and went to home town/ any other location after lockdown, s/he is asked to come back to Mumbai where may join office or continue work from home.

This is going to be a very smooth and in a phased manner return to work.

Currently, all senior management of the company has started working from the office to encourage employees to return back to offices.

Before November 15, 2021, only 5% of TCS employees were working from offices. According to sources, the number is increased but still, less than 10% of its employees have resumed office. It means still only around TCS 50,000 employees are working from offices and rest all are working from home/anywhere.

Last month the company said in a statement, “The safety of our associates and their families is our primary concern. We continue to monitor the external environment carefully. At present, we have about 5% of our associates working from offices. Towards the end of CY’21, we will encourage our associates to return to offices, at least initially, before we switch to the 25/25 model”

“This will be done in a phased and flexible manner and will depend on respective team leaders & the requirements of each team/ project. We are committed to the 25/ 25 model but before transitioning to the model we need to start by getting people back to office and gradually evolve to 25/25.” It said

“As preparation for coming back to office we have requested our employees to plan to get back to their deputed location (their base branch) by 15th November 2021. The return to office will be a calibrated move taking employee safety to consideration.” The company added.

Explaining the 25/25 model the company further said, “The 25/25 model is an important design element, and it will take a couple of years for the model to mature. Under our 25/25 model, by 2025, no more than 25% of our employees will need to work from the office at any given point, and an employee will not need to spend more than 25% of their time in office. Hybrid models of work are here to stay,”

“In the new ‘Future Of Work’, both the physical office & remote working will play an integral part. Eventually, everybody will have to come to office for a period and at the same time, they will have the flexibility to work from home. At the end, whatever we do, it will be fully taking into consideration, employees’ safety, health, and well-being.” It added.
