Ecom Express unveils first All-women Delivery Center in northeast

A leading end-to-end technology-enabled logistics solutions provider, Ecom Express has announced the launch of its first all-women Delivery Center in the northeast situated in Imphal, Manipur.

The company said, “The pursuit of women’s economic independence is going to be the deciding aspect of an equal work environment, especially in terms of gender.”

“Ecom Express Limited strongly believes in diversifying the role of women at all levels and functions and increase earning opportunities for women”, it added.

The film actor Rajkumar Kaiku inaugurated the Ecom Express delivery centre. With this, the company is extremely proud to announce the launch of its first all-women Delivery Center in the northeast, situated in Imphal, Manipur. It is the sixth all-women delivery center in the country.

The delivery center’s services will cover the areas of Thangmeiband, Chingmei-rong, Lamphel, Lamphel Sanakeithel, Nagamapal, RIMS, RIMS Road, Thangal Keithel, North AOC, Khoyathong and Awang BOC.

Our Co-Founder Manju Dhawan says, “There has been a shift in how logistics is perceived today. I believe it is no longer about gender but the opportunities and mediums that are available to people.”

“Traditionally logistics was perceived as a male-dominated industry. However, today there is a change in narrative and the increasing degree of women’s participation is encouraging and a testimony that the scenario is changing in India’’, Manju Dhawan added.

Addressing the gathering, Rajkumar Suraj Singh, Area Manager, North East, Ecom Express said, “The female-only staffed delivery centre was established with the set goal of empowering women in the State.”

“Only women will be assigned the posts of Delivery Centre Head, Supervisor and Delivery Associate. Highlighting that these types of delivery centres are known as “pink DC” or “all women delivery centres”, he added.

He added, “This Ecom Express delivery centre is the second all women delivery centre in the North East and the 6th one in India.”

The Area Manager further said, “In the initial stage, 15 women will operate the delivery centre and more female employees will be hired as they have more expansion plans. The logistics sector in the delivery centre will provide more amenities for the female staff. “

Moreover, he stressed the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity. This is the second all-women delivery station to be opened in the North East. Earlier, Amazon India opened the first all-women delivery centre at Champai in Mizoram.

Ecom Express has its presence in all 29 states of the country and operates in over 2400 towns across 25,000+ PIN-codes in India. The company is the first private logistics company in India to envision a full-state coverage strategy i.e. the capability to reach every doorstep in every village in a state.

This full-state coverage is offered in 20 states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
