Equinix, Inc., the world’s digital infrastructure company, today announced the opening of its Global Center of Excellence (GCoE) in Bengaluru and said it will hire 500 IT professionals by 2024

India’s facility will seek to contribute to the company’s global centres in building scalable, automated digital infrastructure products to source to enterprises, as digital adoption and transformation scales up in India.

The Equinix Bengaluru GCoE joins the company’s other global hubs in Dallas and San Francisco in US, Singapore, and Warsaw.

As part of its developments, the company seeks to build solutions in emerging technologies, corporate applications, data engineering, and analytics, as well as other scalable IT services.

The company already operates in industries including automotive technologies, cloud computing, healthcare, manufacturing, payments infrastructure and more.

In a launch statement announcing the setup of the Bengaluru GCoE, Manoj Paul, MD of Equinix India, said, “The launch of the GCoE in Bengaluru underscores India’s strategic importance in our global business roadmap. At Equinix, we will continue to invest locally to drive innovation aligned with market requirements and nurture IT talent in India.”

Murugesh Nirani, Minister of Large and Medium Industries in the Karnataka government, said, “India continues to leapfrog the world in many areas as it continues to be a strong torchbearer for innovation, startups, and technology development.

It’s essential that the ecosystem is fostered with the right care and attention and in this regard, we welcome the commitment to India by Equinix, by investing in Bengaluru.”

As some of its latest products, Equinix highlights its machine learning-based data centre utilisation platform, which seeks to help companies better understand data centre and service capacity.

The company also recently acquired two data centres in Mumbai, as part of expanding its India business.
