The long-standing rivalry between Indian IT major Infosys and US-based Cognizant Technology Solutions has flared up once again.
In a fresh legal filing dated June 13, 2025, the former has accused Cognizant of systematically poaching its top talent—specifically those involved in the development of its healthcare platform, Helix.
The allegations, submitted to a US court, state that Cognizant’s actions were part of a deliberate strategy.
Infosys claims the intent was to sabotage Helix, which directly competes with Cognizant’s own TriZetto platform.
The Core Allegation by Infosys: Targeted Poaching of Helix Team
The company has named two senior Cognizant executives—Chief People Officer Kathryn Diaz and Americas President Surya Gummadi—as key figures in what it describes as a coordinated effort to lure away critical personnel from the Helix team.
The company alleges that this talent raid has hampered the development and rollout of Helix, a platform positioned to disrupt the healthcare IT solutions space.
The complaint also revives earlier accusations against Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S, a former Infosys president.
Infosys alleges that Ravi deliberately stalled the progress of Helix while still employed at the company.
He left Infosys in October 2022 and joined Cognizant in January 2023, during which time he was reportedly negotiating his transition.
Key Hires from Infosys Under Scrutiny
Infosys has highlighted the hiring of two former senior executives as evidence of Cognizant’s alleged interference:
- Shveta Arora, who joined Cognizant in December 2023 as Head of Consulting.
- Ravi Kuchibhotla, who followed in August 2024 as Chief Strategy Officer.
Both individuals were deeply involved in the Helix platform’s development at Infosys.
The company argues that their recruitment was not coincidental but part of a deliberate strategy to weaken Helix and gain competitive advantage in the healthcare domain.
Cognizant’s Response: Denial and Counterclaims
Cognizant has strongly denied the allegations, calling Infosys’ claims “misleading.”
The company clarified that Kathryn was appointed after Ravi’s onboarding, and dismissed the notion of a coordinated poaching strategy.
Furthermore, Cognizant also reiterated its counter-allegation that Infosys had previously misappropriated trade secrets related to its TriZetto platform.
The latter has strongly denied these claims.
This legal battle stems from a broader dispute that began in August 2024. At that time, Cognizant accused Infosys of stealing proprietary healthcare software information.
Infosys responded with counterclaims, asserting that Cognizant failed to specify the alleged stolen data and was instead engaging in anti-competitive practices.
Strategic Stakes: Helix vs. TriZetto
At the heart of the dispute lies the intensifying competition in healthcare IT solutions, particularly in the North American market.
Infosys’ Helix and Cognizant’s TriZetto are both positioned as next-generation healthcare platforms.
They aim to transform healthcare administration, claims processing, and patient engagement through advanced digital solutions.
With both companies vying for dominance, the movement of key personnel and intellectual property concerns have become flashpoints in a high-stakes corporate rivalry.
