An American multinational technology corporation, Microsoft is focusing on skilling and certifying 75,000 women developers in India.

Microsoft chairman and chief executive officer Satya Nadella said, “Microsoft will expand its Code; Without Barriers program to India this month, as the company aims to democratize access to tech skills nationwide.”

In order to address the gender disparity in the rapidly expanding cloud, AI, and digital technology sectors in nine Asia Pacific (APAC) countries, a program was initiated in 2021.

Through the program, called Code; Without Barriers, Microsoft aims to foster inclusive economic growth and promote innovation by offering support, training, and networking opportunities specifically tailored for female developers, coders, and other technical professionals.

This initiative also aims to reflect the diverse social landscape of the region. As part of this effort, Microsoft plans to provide skill development and certification to 75,000 women developers in India by the year 2024.

The Code without Barriers expansion builds on other recent developer and skilling initiatives by Microsoft in India.

Recently, Microsoft is dedicated to aiding India in its journey toward becoming an AI-focused nation. The company has launched a significant skilling initiative in India called ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA, as part of its Skills for Jobs program.

The objective of this initiative is to provide AI skills to 2 million individuals in India by 2025. Microsoft aims to equip the country’s workforce with essential skills for the future through this program.

To bridge the skills gap, ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA will prioritize training individuals in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, as well as rural areas. This approach aims to empower people in these regions to actively participate in the emerging field of AI and unlock inclusive socio-economic development.
