Home delivery, vehicle repair, and cab driving are some of the most demanded GIG workforces by employers. Above 9 million workforces to be added by 2025 as GIG workers who are mainly online platform workers, and on-call workers.

Employers show high demand for the GIG workforce due to market disruption caused by digitalization and therefore the opportunity for employment is very high in this sector.

A major contribution of the GIG workforce was seen in the pandemic phase wherein these workers covered the following services:

  • Salon services
  • Cab driving
  • Food delivery apps
  • Grocery delivery agents
  • Medicine delivery apps

Door delivery accounts for a majority of GIG roles present in the market ranging between 22% in food and 26% in other delivery.

The Indian market is lucrative in terms of consumerism and door delivery tech companies are expected to grow massively in near future.

A survey was conducted wherein 58% of the employers expected 9-11 million GIG workforce employments by 2025 which is remarkable.

However, this industry is still very unorganized and there is a lack of awareness and formalized system for recruitment of the GIG workforce.

These workers do not have access to job vacancies, and mostly are unaware of progressive industry demand for their segment.

Employers prefer GIG workers as they are contractual employees and it makes the firm free from obligations that may be incurred on full-time employees.
