An American multinational technology company, Amazon warned employee promotions may be impacted if they don’t Return to office.

According to CNN report, and the internal memo of the company, “Managers own the promotion process, which means it is their responsibility to support your growth through regular conversations and stretch assignments, and to complete all required inputs for a promotion.”

“If your role is expected to work from the office 3+ days a week and you are not in compliance, your manager will be made aware and VP approval will be required,” the internal memo added.

Earlier in February, Amazon had informed the employees through Amazon’s blog, and chief executive Andy Jassy asked employees to come work from the office, saying that staff would work on-site at least three days a week and that the situation would likely not “work out” for employees who could not commit to the decision even if they disagreed with it.

“It’s not simple to bring many thousands of employees back to our offices around the world, so we’re going to give the teams that need to do that work some time to develop a plan”, he earlier said.

He further said, “We know that it won’t be perfect at first, but the office experience will steadily improve over the coming months (and years) as our real estate and facilities teams smooth out the wrinkles, and ultimately keep evolving how we want our offices to be set up to capture the new ways we want to work.”

On the same concern, earlier in March Amazon’s nearly 30,000 employees had signed a petition against a return-to-office plan that was announced recently.

In the petition, the employee had argued against the return to office mandate plans. Amazon’s HR chief flatly rejected an internal petition against the new return-to-office policy.
