TCS has withheld salaries of over 900 employees: Report

According to Financial Express report, a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has allegedly stopped paying salaries to more than 900 employees.

Recently, IT employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) shared a post on LinkedIn saying, “Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has withheld salaries of over 900 employees amidst ongoing relocation discussions and a pending complaint against unfair work practices at the Labour Commissioner Office Pune. This action raises serious concerns about the company’s ethics and treatment of its workforce.”

“Silence is not an option! Let’s stand together against this unfair treatment and demand ethical practices from TCS. We urge TCS to reconsider its decision regarding salary stoppage and prioritize fair and ethical treatment of its employees. Open communication, respect for employee rights, and a commitment to finding solutions through dialogue are essential to resolve this situation and maintain a positive employer-employee relationship. Please share this post to raise awareness about this issue and encourage TCS to address the concerns of its employees”, the post added.

The reports also suggested that the company has declined the salary of employees who didn’t comply with the company’s policies. However, SightsIn Plus has not reached out to the organization to verify the report.

IT employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) said, “The company has unethically stopped the salary of employees who are opposing these forced transfers.”

Recently, Maharashtra State Government Labour Department has issued a notice against IT major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for allegedly forcing more than 2,000 employees to relocate to different cities without proper prior notice.

Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), a union representing IT workers. In a notice, TCS representatives are asked to meet labour officials on January 18, 2024, at noon. NITES has received over 300 complaints against TCS for transferring employees to different cities without proper notice.

NITES, President, Harpreet Singh Saluja said. “We have urged the Ministry of Labour and Employment to investigate TCS’s actions and take appropriate measures to protect IT workers from such unethical practices.”
