TCS office receives a Bomb hoax by a laid-off female employee

An Indian multinational information technology services and consulting company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) received a false bomb threat call that created panic among employees.

The Police have traced the call. The call belonged to recently laid-off female employees from Karnataka’s Hubballi district. As per the Initial investigations, the former female employee made the fake bomb threat call due to anger.

The recently laid-off employee, B Shruthi Shetty, 26 had previously worked with the TCS. On November 14, 2023, around 4.10 am, she allegedly called the company’s transport help desk and said that she had placed a bomb in building 2. Shruthi again called around 4.59 am and insisted that the building be vacated, claiming that a blast would take place in the next few minutes.

TCS employees working at the time were evacuated safely and the police were informed. The police did the investigation, thorough check but didn’t find any explosives.

Recently, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) sent sudden transfer notices to its employees after recently ending Work From Home policy and asked employees to join the assigned location within 15 days.

The company has recently sent transfer notices to over 2,000 employees. These employees are from various locations and they have been asked to join within 15 days at the allocated location.

On this matter, The IT labour union, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate, took on social platform X (Formally Twitter) and said, “NITES urges @LabourMinistry to protect IT workers from unethical practices such as forced transfers. We demand an investigation and new policies to safeguard employee rights.”

TCS sacks 16 employees, bars six vendors in recruitment scam

An IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, TCS has sacked 16 employees and barred six vendors in connection with a recruitment scam.

The company said in a statement, “Our investigation found 19 employees to be involved 16 employees have been separated from the company for code of conduct violations, and three employees have been removed from the resource management function.”

Additionally, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has also barred six vendor entities from doing business with the company.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Gen-AI ready workforce was over 100,000 strong at the end of the September quarter of the fiscal.

The company is proactively hiring bright freshers and investing in training them with the right skills is paying off. Additionally, it has reported a dip of 6,333 employees in Q2 FY2024.
