TCS sacks 16 employees, bars six vendors in recruitment scam

An IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, TCS has sacked 16 employees and barred six vendors in connection with a recruitment scam.

According to Business Standard report the company said in a statement, “Our investigation found 19 employees to be involved 16 employees have been separated from the company for code of conduct violations, and three employees have been removed from the resource management function.”

Additionally, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has also barred six vendor entities from doing business with the company.

Earlier, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on June 29 that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has sacked six employees after finding them guilty of accepting favours from certain staffing firms in the appointment of contractual workers.

“We have sacked six employees and also banned six staffing companies,” he said in response to questions from shareholders.

He said, “The company received two separate whistleblower complaints — one pertaining to the appointment of business associates or contractual workers in the US, and one in India, in late February and March, after which it investigated the allegations.”

“The company will look at the whole BA (Business Associate) supplier management process and see what the weaknesses are and will completely tighten the process to ensure that we do not have such incidents,” he said.

Moreover, a veteran of 30 years, Sivakumar Viswanathan was appointed as the new head of the Resource Management Group (RMG). 

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Gen-AI ready workforce was over 100,000 strong at the end of the September quarter of the fiscal.

The company is proactively hiring bright freshers and investing in training them with the right skills is paying off. Additionally, it has reported a dip of 6,333 employees.

In financial results for Q1FY24 the quarter ending June 30, 2023, TCS LTM IT Services attrition rate this quarter is 17.8% with a workforce strength of 615,318. The company’s net headcount addition of 523 and the contribution of women in the workforce is 35.8%.
