TCS Upskills 185,000 Youth Through Employment Program

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT services firm, marked International Youth Day by announcing a major milestone in its long-standing commitment to youth empowerment.

Through its flagship Youth Employment Program (YEP), TCS has successfully upskilled over 185,000 young individuals across India since the program’s inception in 2010.

The initiative spans all states and union territories, equipping participants with marketable skills, industry-recognized credentials, and certifications that support their transition into formal employment.

This achievement reflects TCS’s broader vision of building an inclusive, future-ready workforce capable of thriving in a digitally driven economy.

Inclusive Skilling Through the Teach, Coach, Mentor, and Place Model

At the core of YEP is a structured model—Teach, Coach, Mentor, and Place—designed to support youth from diverse and underserved backgrounds.

To date, the program has enabled over 43,800 students to secure formal employment, including 41,800 young women and 12,500 youth from underrepresented communities.

The initiative emphasizes merit-based access to ensure fair opportunities for all eligible learners.

It is supported by a free digital learning portal that enables remote training, helping overcome geographical and infrastructural challenges.

Joseph Sunil Nallapalli, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at TCS, highlighted the program’s impact: “Our Youth Employment Program is a testament to the transformative power of skilling—equipping young individuals with the capabilities and support needed to thrive in the workforce and helping them transition from college to careers”.

TCS Expanding Reach Through Complementary Initiatives

TCS’s youth development efforts extend beyond YEP through several targeted programs:

  • BridgeIT: This initiative has created a network of over 1,700 digital entrepreneurs, primarily women, who deliver essential digital services to more than 744,000 citizens across 4,457 villages annually. These ‘digipreneurs’ play a key role in bridging the digital divide in rural India.
  • Ignite My Future (IMF): In FY 2025, the Ignite My Future (IMF) program trained 5,800 teachers across India. These educators then helped over 266,900 students prepare for the AI era by integrating Computational Thinking into core academic subjects.
  • go Innovate Together (goIT): In FY 2025, a career readiness program reached 81,374 students across 50 countries. It encouraged them to apply 21st-century skills and emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and App Design to address real-world challenges in their communities.

These programs collectively reinforce TCS’s commitment to preparing youth for the evolving demands of the global workforce.

Building Changemakers for a Digital India

TCS’s youth-focused initiatives are aligned with India’s broader digital and economic transformation goals.

The company’s development model integrates skilling, mentorship, and real-world experience to address immediate employability challenges.

This approach also strengthens the long-term resilience and inclusivity of the national workforce.

“Our school programs prepare students with essential 21st-century skills for jobs of the future. Together, we are not just building careers—we are shaping changemakers,” Joseph added.
