Uber Former employee booked for Rs 1 cr embezzlement

According to the reports of PTI, In a recent incident, American mobility service provider company, Uber‘s former employee has been booked for Rs 1 crore embezzlement.

A complaint filed by the company for embezzlement

The former employee has been found guilty of creating 388 fake driver profiles, 191 profiles were created using the same IP address as the accused man’s work computer.

The complaint was filed by the authorized signatory of Uber India Systems Private Limited Prabhanjan Kumar April last year.

According to the company FIR, “This was not a part of his scope of work and these accounts did not require any payments to be applied.”

“Internal inquiries by the company found that the non-genuine-driver partner accounts were created in bulk and in 191 cases out of 388, the IP addresses which were used to create these fake accounts matched with the IP addresses used by the accused to log into his work computer,” the FIR added.

Former employee details

The Employee was working with Uber from August 2021 till December 2021. The employee was associated as a contractor with the company. His job role included dealing with driver payments and updating the details of the authorized drivers in the company’s spreadsheet.

Additionally, post creating relevant information the money was credited to the account.
