VinFast Auto India, the subsidiary of Vietnam-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast, has officially inducted its first cohort of 200 employees for its upcoming EV plant in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu.
This marks a significant milestone in the company’s Asia expansion strategy and its commitment to building a robust, inclusive, and future-ready manufacturing ecosystem.
The plant, which is expected to commence operations soon, will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles and is projected to generate over 3,500 jobs over the next five years.
Collaborative Recruitment Model of VinFast with Local Institutions
VinFast’s recruitment drive, held in April 2025, saw participation from 344 diploma students from the region.
With support from District Collector K. Elambahavath, the State Industries Department, and Guidance Tamil Nadu’s WorkLabs Cell, the company adopted a collaborative workforce model by partnering with local polytechnic institutions to identify and onboard candidates.
The company’s hybrid hiring strategy includes:
- 80% freshers or trainees from local communities
- 20% experienced professionals from leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
This approach reflects VinFast’s commitment to inclusive employment, regional development, and skills-based hiring.
Skilling Through Naan Mudhalvan Initiative
The induction program is part of the Naan Mudhalvan skilling initiative.
