NIC Invites Applications for Digital India Internship Scheme

National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has announced the Digital India Internship Scheme for 2025.

This prestigious program offers Indian students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies while contributing to the nation’s digital transformation.

Applications are open until April 30, 2025, and the internship will run from June 2 to July 31, 2025.

NIC Digital India Internship Overview

The Digital India Internship Scheme aims to provide students with practical exposure to emerging technologies under the mentorship of experienced professionals.

Interns will work on real-world projects across various domains, including blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and more.

The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, fostering innovation and skill development.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Nationality: Indian students from recognized universities.
  • Academic Performance: Minimum 60% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • Courses Eligible:
    • B.E./B.Tech (3rd year, including lateral entry)
    • M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc (CS/IT) 1st year
    • MCA 2nd year
    • Dual Degree (M.E./M.Tech) 4th year
    • DoEACC ‘B’ level diploma holders
  • Exclusions: Final-semester students or those graduating in 2025 are not eligible.

Application Process

Interested candidates can apply online through the Digital India Internship Portal by following these steps:

  1. Registration: Create an account using your name, email, mobile number, and password. Verify your email via OTP.
  2. Form Submission: Log in and complete the three-part application form, including personal details, educational qualifications, and a statement of purpose (100–250 words).
  3. Document Upload: Submit certificates of completed degrees, the latest academic results, and a self-declaration for CGPA-to-percentage conversion.
  4. Recommendation Letter: Obtain a recommendation letter from your institution on official letterhead and upload it to the portal.
  5. Domain Selection: Choose up to two preferred domains for the internship.

Selection Process, Benefits and Opportunities

NIC will select 20 interns based on merit and alignment with the program’s requirements.

Shortlisted candidates may undergo personal or Skype interviews, depending on the domain.

Interns will be placed at NIC Headquarters in New Delhi or various state centers.

Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 and a certificate upon successful completion of the program.

The internship provides invaluable exposure to government IT systems, digital service delivery, and the use of technology for public good.

It also offers networking opportunities with NIC experts and a chance to contribute to national-level projects.
