Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is set to establish a comprehensive resource centre under the PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) to enhance youth employability and provide structured support for job seekers.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, offering training, counseling, and industry collaboration to interns throughout their professional journey.

MCA has invited expressions of interest (EoI) to identify an agency that will develop the platform, ensuring it is scalable, user-centric, and inclusive.

Objectives of the Resource Centre

The resource centre is designed to:

  • Provide training programs that make interns employment-ready.
  • Facilitate counseling sessions throughout the internship lifecycle.
  • Generate informative content, including guides, best practices, and multimedia resources.
  • Organize networking events to connect interns with industry experts.
  • Ensure continuous improvement based on user feedback.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of equipping young professionals with modern-day skills and real-world work experience.

Enhancements Following Pilot Project

The PMIS initially faced lukewarm response during its pilot phase, prompting several modifications:

  • Geo-tagging internship opportunities, allowing candidates to choose companies closer to their domiciles.
  • Additional incentives from top 500 participating companies to attract more interns.
  • Increased internship targets, with 700,000 internships planned for FY26, up from 125,000 in FY25.

PM Internship Scheme: Benefits and Financial Support

Under PMIS, interns receive:

  • ₹5,000 monthly stipend for a 12-month period.
  • One-time allowance of ₹6,000.
  • Opportunities across multiple industries, including corporate, government, and academia.

Despite the 127,000 internship opportunities provided in the first round of the pilot project, only 8,000 candidates joined companies.

The government aims to significantly improve participation in the upcoming phases.
