Hyundai Motor India starts vaccination drive for employees, dependents

Tamil Nadu government has extended the lockdown by another week till June 14 with some relaxations

Hyundai Motor India has started COVID-19 Vaccination Drive for all its employees and their family members from Friday, June 4th, 2021.

The company said in a statement, “We have re-started manufacturing operations in two shifts from May 31 at Chennai, Tamilnadu facilities with a series of support measures for our employees amid the second wave of COVID-19.”.

Hyundai Motor India has taken the below measures

  • Insurance cover for all employees and dependents.
  • On-time annual incentives and bonuses followed by implementation of promotion and compensation revisions effective April 1.
  • Adequate paid leave for COVID-19 confirmed /suspected employees with symptoms.
  • Safety and well-being measures for employees.
  • Employee and dependents’ Vaccination Drive.

The company said, ‘We are closely monitoring the pandemic situation in the state (Tamil Nadu) and supporting the communities for an early recovery,”

During the first wave and second wave, the company has ensured that it creates proactive, robust policies and practices to benefit employees and help drive economic recovery and normalcy in the country, IT added.

The company had suspended the production operations from May 10 to May 31 after hundreds of workers stage protest at the Hyundai manufacturing plant near Chennai, demanding that workers should be given leaves amid the Covid-19 pandemic-induced lockdown.

Today, the Tamil Nadu government has extended the lockdown by another week, till 6 am on June 14, in a bid to curb rising COVID-19 cases in the State. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday, however, announced some relaxation like factories to work with 50% workers.

Vegetable, grocery, and meat shops, which have been shut since May 24, will be allowed to function from June 7 between 6 am to 5 pm in all districts. However, 11 districts in Tamil Nadu, which continue to see high caseloads will continue to see the intensive lockdown enforced. With PTI Inputs
