Tech Mahindra & HCL Technologies plan to bring back 20% of staff in the office

According to a report by Business Insider, HCL is reportedly considering getting nearly 20% of its employees back on work premises on a rotational basis by December end this year. The company is restricting the in-office work to one day per week.

Tech Mahindra mentioned that about 25% of the employees are already back in their offices across multiple locations.

HCL Technologies said that Employees with children below the age of five, and those who have parents older than 50 years of age can continue to work from home. The company is also exempting employees that are older than 50 to 55 years of age.

Apparao VV, Chief Human Resources Officer of HCL said, “We’re telling employees to come at least once in a week to start with, and probably by December, you can do one or two days in a week.”

Currently, HCL is reportedly operating with about 6 per cent of its staff in the office. While it’s per companies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro are likely to continue to allow up to 97- 99% per cent of their staff to work from home (WFH) to maintain social distancing and for business continuity.

According to an Economic Times report, CP Gurnani, CEO of Tech Mahindra, said about 25-30 per cent of its staff were back at the workplace at several locations. The company is monitoring the number of cases and uses its app Mhealthy to observe the health of its staff.

Recently in the last weeks, CP Gurnani wrote a blog and said, Do we need to be fearless? Well, not yet. Do we need to fear? Well, not quite. What do we need to be then? Careful, always.

He added, I want to talk to you about our preparedness and excitement about seeing you in the office again.

HCL Technologies is also back to hiring. The tech firm will be hiring over the next three months. The company aims to on-board at least 9,000 freshers by March-end.
