Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services firm, is facing controversy after a former employee accused members of its Human Resources (HR) team of physically assaulting him.
The company has denied the claims, calling them “inaccurate and a misrepresentation of facts.”
Alleged Incident at Noida Office
The allegations surfaced through a viral post on the r/IndianWorkplace subreddit.
According to the former employee, the incident occurred on September 19 at TCS’s Noida Yamuna office following his termination.
He claims he was dismissed without explanation and sought clarity on severance pay and separation procedures.
After repeated emails and calls went unanswered, he visited the office in person.
He alleges that there, he was told, “We won’t reply. You are terminated. Fight wherever you want.”
When he began recording the conversation, the situation allegedly turned physical, with HR staff restraining him and twisting his arm to seize his phone.
Police Involvement
The former employee says the police were called to the scene, and he was taken to the local station.
He claims to have presented video evidence of the incident, but alleges that HR representatives declined to appear when summoned.
Describing the episode as “humiliating,” he has indicated plans to pursue legal action, possibly through labor court or civil proceedings.
Company Response
TCS has firmly denied the allegations, reiterating that the claims are “inaccurate and a misrepresentation of facts.”
The company has not shared further details about its perspective on the incident.
Broader Implications
The case has fueled widespread discussions online about corporate governance, employee rights, and workplace conduct in India’s technology sector.
With the allegations gaining traction on social media, concerns have been raised about the transparency of termination processes and how organizations handle disputes.
While the situation remains under review, industry watchers and legal experts note that the outcome could have significant implications for HR practices in the IT sector.
How TCS manages its response in the coming days may prove critical to maintaining employee trust and safeguarding its reputation.
