Biswaroop Mukherjee, who held the position of Head of Human Resources for Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, has recently stepped down from his role.

His sudden exit was announced on October 21, 2024, marking the end of his tenure at the organization.

Background and Tenure at Tata Motors

Biswaroop’s association with Tata Motors spans two distinct periods. His first stint began in July 2011 and continued until August 2017.

During this time, he contributed significantly to the company’s HR function.

After a brief interlude, Biswaroop Mukherjee returned to Tata Motors in April 2019. This time to lead the HR efforts for the Commercial Vehicle division

His second tenure was marked by strategic initiatives and people-centric approaches to talent management.

Interestingly, Biswaroop had recently launched his own website.

He shared insights about his book titled “Apostles” and various articles and videos.

However, he chose not to comment on his departure from Tata Motors when contacted by the media.

Reasons for Departure

While no official replacement has been announced, a company spokesperson confirmed that Biswaroop Mukherjee voluntarily chose to move on to pursue other interests.

The specifics of these interests remain undisclosed, but his departure has left a void in the HR leadership team

The news came as a surprise to many within the organization, given Biswaroop’s pivotal role in shaping HR policies and practices.

On the morning of October 21, 2024, Tata Motors’ Executive Director, Girish Wagh, along with CHRO Sitaram Kandi, informed the company’s leadership about his departure.

Shortly thereafter, Biswaroop exited all online leadership groups

His resignation was swiftly confirmed, leaving colleagues and industry peers curious about the reasons behind this sudden move.
