Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Accenture have announced a strategic partnership to deliver specialized skilling programmes aimed at preparing professionals for the rapidly evolving software-defined vehicle (SDV) landscape.

The initiative brings together IIT Madras’s Centre of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR) and Accenture’s LearnVantage Software-Defined Vehicle Academy, with a shared goal of equipping talent for automotive OEMs and Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

This collaboration responds to the growing demand for digital-native talent capable of developing next-generation automotive systems that integrate AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and advanced electronics.

Curriculum and Delivery Model

The skilling programme is designed for automotive technology professionals and will be delivered through a hybrid model combining:

  • Self-paced learning modules
  • Instructor-led sessions by IIT Madras faculty
  • Interactive, hands-on environments
  • Expert coaching and mentoring

The curriculum covers a wide range of technical domains, including:

  • Embedded systems and software
  • Automotive safety and cybersecurity
  • Cloud virtualization and edge computing
  • Communication protocols
  • Industry standards such as AUTOSAR and ASPICE

This structure ensures that learners gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills aligned with industry requirements.

Accenture and IIT Madras Leadership Perspectives

Commenting on the collaboration, Kishore Durg, Global Lead of Accenture LearnVantage, emphasized the urgency of building digital-native talent.

He stated, “With the industry moving toward software-defined vehicles, the need for expertise in AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and safety systems has never been greater.”

Prof. Krishnan Balasubramanian, Professor-in-Charge at CAAR, described the partnership as a “unique academia-industry model” to upskill the next-generation workforce.

Thiruppathy Srinivasan, CEO of CAAR, added that the initiative offers a synergistic platform to meet the automotive sector’s evolving talent needs.
