Caterpillar Invests in Bengaluru Office to Boost Digital Operations

Caterpillar Inc., a global leader in construction and mining equipment manufacturing, has opened a new office in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

Over the past 53 years, Caterpillar has significantly invested in India, establishing five advanced manufacturing facilities and two state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) centers, which currently employ over 7,000 people.

The new office is designed to support the expanding Cat Digital team, which is pivotal to Caterpillar’s innovation goals.

This dynamic team comprises software and data engineers, data scientists, architects, product managers, developers, and testers from India.

They utilize advanced digital infrastructure and IoT intelligence to develop smarter, data-driven solutions that enhance the performance and utilization of heavy machinery.

The Bengaluru office includes an Employee Experience Centre and a collaborative workspace.

It is strategically located in Whitefield, the heart of Bengaluru’s tech community.

Additionally, the office features a lab setup for teams within the Cat Digital organization.

Leadership’s Perspective and Workforce Distribution

Akash Jain, India Leader for Cat Digital, highlighted, “When we started our Bangalore operations in 2020 with a small team, our goal was clear: to invest in talent and technology to enhance our customers’ ownership experience.

India naturally became a hub due to its rich tech talent pool.

Today, we are a significant team of innovators working on solutions for fleet management, condition monitoring, and e-commerce for our customers and dealers.

This new office celebrates our team’s exceptional work and invites India’s talent to join us in driving innovation forward.”

The new Bengaluru office will house 30% of Cat Digital’s talent, while the remaining 70% will continue to operate from the Chennai office.

Cat Digital is dedicated to integrating digital capabilities into Caterpillar’s machines, helping customers build a better and more sustainable future.

The company employs over 7,300 people in India, with an additional 4,000 working for Cat dealers.

Caterpillar’s presence in India includes advanced manufacturing facilities, high-tech R&D centers, and numerous global support organizations, with teams and dealers spread across hundreds of locations to swiftly address customer needs.

Cat Digital is a technology-focused division within Caterpillar Inc.

It comprises a global team of software and data engineers, data scientists, architects, product managers, developers, and more, responsible for integrating digital capabilities into Caterpillar’s renowned machinery.

Collaborating with enterprise partners and Cat Dealers, Cat Digital executes key elements of Caterpillar’s digital and marketing strategies, including global marketing, connectivity, enterprise data, analytics, AI, equipment management, eCommerce, digital marketing, rental & used digital solutions, and aftermarket insights.
