Bengaluru’s 36% Share in GCC; TeamLease Digital Report

Bengaluru, often hailed as the “Silicon Valley of India,” has solidified its position as the most prominent hub for global capability centers (GCC) in the country. 

A recent report by tech staffing and learning solutions provider TeamLease Digital sheds light on Bengaluru’s remarkable growth and its pivotal role in shaping India’s GCC landscape.

Bengaluru: The GCC Powerhouse

Bengaluru leads the pack, accounting for a staggering 36% of TeamLease Digital’s GCC client base during the first two quarters of FY25.

This dominance underscores the city’s appeal to multinational corporations seeking to establish GCCs in India. Bengaluru’s allure lies in its high-tech prowess.

Approximately 37% of the city’s talent concentration is dedicated to the high-tech industry. From cutting-edge electronics to healthcare innovations, Bengaluru remains at the forefront of technological advancements.

Beyond high-tech, professional services (including BFSI and consulting firms) contribute 21% to the headcount.

Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector—led by automotive and electronics manufacturing—plays a significant role, contributing 10% to the total GCC workforce.

GCC Dominance: Industry Insights

Bengaluru’s high-tech industry spans diverse domains, including electronics, healthcare, e-commerce, semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), aviation, and defense. The city’s GCCs leverage modern technologies to enhance global operations.

Notably, while the broader IT industry faced downturns, the GCC software and internet sector maintained steady progress. It is projected to achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.2% by 2027.

Retail and e-commerce GCCs are poised for robust growth, with an expected CAGR of 8.4%. Healthcare follows closely at 7.5% CAGR, reflecting the sector’s resilience and innovation.

Hyderabad’s Role

Hyderabad, another major player, accounts for 14% of TeamLease Digital’s client base. The city excels in the high-tech industry, contributing a substantial 45% to the GCC headcount.

Hyderabad’s GCCs lead the charge in digital transformation, harnessing cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity, blockchain, and data analytics. Robotics and blockchain technologies further underscore the city’s tech leadership.
