Bloomberg has announced that 418 companies representing a combined market capitalization of USD16 Trillion and headquartered in 45 countries and regions are included in the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI).

The seven Indian companies such as Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Firstsource Solutions, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and WNS Holdings are included in the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI).

The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) tracks the performance of public companies committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through policy development, representation, and transparency.

This reference index measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay & gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand.

TCS’ women workforce crosses 200,000; adds 28,238 employees in Q3, takes overall employees’ tally to 556,986. India’s largest IT services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has over 36% women in its workforce.

Commenting on this achievement, Sunita Cherian, Chief Culture Officer & Senior Vice President, Corporate Human Resources, Wipro said, “We are honoured to be included in the Gender-Equality Index. At Wipro, we believe that a truly inclusive workplace requires transparency and consistency in efforts that challenge stereotypes and biases at work while creating a strong network of allies,” said

“Wipro is a signatory of the Women Empowerment Principles (established by UN Global Compact and UN Women) since 2012, showing its commitment to the agenda of gender equality and women empowerment at the workplace. Wipro launched Enrich in 2021, a sponsorship program for high-potential women leaders, with the objective of strengthening the talent pipeline and creating an ecosystem of enablement. The organization also relaunched its Begin Again program, an initiative to hire women who are seeking to restart their career after a break.” She added.

Harshvendra Soin, Global Chief People Officer & Head of Marketing, Tech Mahindra, said, “At Tech Mahindra, we appreciate differences based on age, ethnicity, race, lifestyle, and social status and have designed a series of programs, policies, and initiatives to promote diversity.”

“We have endeavoured to create a psychologically safe ecosystem where associates are connected through human-centred experiences. Our progressive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies enable our associates to bring their most authentic selves and thrive in a purpose-driven workplace. This recognition in Bloomberg GEI Index for the third time in a row is a testimony of our ‘intentionally diverse and naturally inclusive’ philosophy that empowers everyone at Tech Mahindra to Rise.” He added.

“We are honored to be a member of the 2022 Gender Equality Index. We believe that women and men have an equal role to play in shaping the future of the digital economy, whether in technology, business, and driving successful client relationships,” said Shobha Meera, Chief CSR Officer at Capgemini and member of the Group Executive Committee.

“As such, gender equality is central to our long-term success and we are committed to becoming the company of choice for women working in the digital sector.” She added.

“The changing nature of work due to the pandemic has highlighted the importance of addressing gender equality issues in a rapidly-evolving global workforce,” said Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg.

Peter T. Grauer added, “The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index recognizes companies that are maintaining a strong focus on providing an inclusive work environment that supports the evolving needs of employees and retains the competitive strengths gained through gender diversity, which is increasingly critical in this challenging business environment.”
