A recent report by TeamLease Digital projects a promising annual growth rate of 5.5% for the women’s workforce in the Indian tech sector over the next three years.

This growth is expected to increase the Women’s Workforce Participation Rate (WPR) from 10.8% in 2022 to an estimated 14.9% by 2027.

The report highlights the significant strides being made towards gender diversity and inclusion in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.

TeamLease Digital Report: Current Workforce Statistics

Currently, women account for 1.92 million of the total tech workforce in India.

Companies actively recruit women to lead innovation and bring unique perspectives to high-demand tech roles, causing this number to rise rapidly.

The rise of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) is a key driver behind this growth.

Projections indicate that women will constitute 35% of the workforce in these innovation hubs by 2027.

The report identifies several high-demand tech roles where women are making significant contributions.

These include data scientists, data analysts, machine learning engineers, cybersecurity specialists, cloud computing professionals, and UX/UI designers.

These roles require a blend of technical expertise and creativity.

Women skilled in analyzing vast datasets, safeguarding digital assets, and crafting intuitive digital interfaces find these roles ideal.

Challenges and Opportunities

Despite the positive growth projections, the report emphasizes the need to bridge the gender gap.

It also highlights the importance of providing equal opportunities for women in tech.

We must ensure that women have access to the necessary training and resources to excel in these high-demand roles.

The financial year 2024-25 presents significant opportunities for women in various emerging and critical domains.

Companies are prioritizing diversity and inclusion to drive business success.
