An Indian multinational corporation, Wipro is adopting flexible workplaces amid rising Covid cases in the country. The company is providing a flexible workplace to prioritize employee well-being.

According to Money Control, the company is also catering to client needs facilitating staff professional development, and facilitating flexible workplaces.

India reported 656 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising concerns amidst the looming threat of the JN.1 subvariant and total active cases are 4170. However, the number of new cases remains relatively low compared to previous peaks.

The Omicron subvariant has been categorised as a “variant of interest” by the World Health Organization, and as of now isn’t deemed to hold a particular risk. However, former WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan has cautioned against underestimating COVID-19 as a common cold.

Last month, Wipro had asked its employees to report to the office three days a week, effective from November 15, 2023. The company updated its mandatory hybrid work policy from November 15 and in case the employees don’t follow the updated policies they will face consequences from January 7, 2024.

Wipro’s Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil to its employees had said, “Starting November 15, all employees must be present at their assigned office location for at least three days each week.” This change aims to enhance teamwork, facilitate face-to-face interactions, and strengthen Wipro’s culture, he added.
