Cognizant sacked a Noida employee who brutally beat up his dog

According to the media report, nearly after one month, a Noida resident, a Cognizant employee was caught on camera brutally beating his 10-month-old puppy. The video, filmed by his neighbour (without his knowledge) had gone viral causing the widespread reaction.

The dog, named Buddy, suffered injuries all over his body and a fracture in his femur. The volunteer, Sukriti, tweeted the video which soon went viral.

Commenting on this video Cognizant said, “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This individual is no longer with Cognizant.” Now, this employee has been sacked from the company.

Rishab Mehra, the accused person who was filmed by one of his neighbours beating his puppy mercilessly at his rented accommodation at Lotus Boulevard in Sector 100 of Noida. The video was shared online resulting in a massive outrage with MP Maneka Gandhi seeking action against the accused.

This shameful incident took place in the last week of November. The neighbour who is a volunteer from People for Animals (PFA) saw the beating taking place and captured it on camera as evidence. Following a police complaint, an FIR was also registered against the accused, who has since left his rented accommodation.

“Someone who can be ruthless and so cruel to a voiceless, can never be a good human or a good employee. I wish the laws were stricter so that inhumans like Rishabh Mehra could be banned from the society,” said Kaveri Rana Bhardwaj, the founder of Sophie Memorial Animal Relief Trust, who is now taking care of the labrador.

She said a number of people have shown interest in adopting the puppy named ‘Buddy’.

“He will be hopefully be fine after some weeks. Currently he is limping while running or walking. Once he fully recovers, then we will think about his adoption,” she added.
