AWS Names Sandeep Dutta as India and South Asia President

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed Sandeep Dutta as the new President for AWS India and South Asia, effective November 1, 2024.

This strategic move comes almost a year after the departure of the interim country head, Vaishali Kasture.

Sandeep Dutta, a veteran with over 20 years of experience at Accenture, brings extensive expertise in leading large-scale transformations.

AWS Leadership: Immediate Priorities

Sandeep Dutta’s appointment was approved by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of AWS’s Board of Directors.

Jaime Valles, Vice President for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) at AWS Global Sales, announced the appointment on LinkedIn, expressing excitement about Sandeep’s leadership.

Sandeep’s immediate priorities include deepening AWS’s investments and impact across India, fostering innovation, and expanding the company’s reach.

He aims to advance customer-centric solutions and drive growth to deliver value for all stakeholders.

Sandeep’s extensive experience in managing large-scale transformations positions him as a key leader in AWS.

In a LinkedIn post, Jaime Valles highlighted Sandeep’s strategic vision and his ability to assist clients in leveraging cloud technology to propel digital innovation and tackle India’s most pressing issues and goals.

Sandeep emphasized that the journey to the cloud is about more than just technology.

It’s a cultural transformation that unlocks new ways of innovating and delivering long-lasting, positive impact.

Background and Appointment

Sandeep Dutta was formerly the Indian business lead at Accenture, where he worked for 17 years.

This appointment marks a pivotal moment in AWS’s journey to empower Indian businesses.

Not just this they are also empowering governments, and communities in achieving their digital ambitions.

AWS has committed to a $12.7 billion investment plan by 2030. They are set to create 131,700 jobs and boost renewable energy projects.

Sandeep Dutta’s appointment as the new President of AWS India and South Asia signals a new era for the company.
