Captain Fresh, a global leader in tech-led seafood supply chain, has announced the appointment of Rupali Gupta as its Group Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the company’s executive leadership team as it prepares for its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) later in 2025.

Previously based in Singapore for the past 12 years, Rupali Gupta will be relocating with her family to join Captain Fresh’s global leadership team in India.

Her appointment signals the company’s focus on bringing in seasoned leaders who can drive its ambitious growth plans and help navigate the complexities of global expansion.

A Commitment to Growth and Innovation

Reflecting on her new role, Rupali Gupta stated, “Captain Fresh is scaling rapidly – as we expand, maintaining our unique culture with a unified, high-performance team is essential.”

She added, “I look forward to partnering with the leadership team to ensure we attract top talent, foster a culture of collaboration and engagement, and drive organizational success across all regions.”

Her focus will be on building a resilient and agile organization.

This will help the company adapt to the rapidly evolving seafood supply chain landscape and lead the way in innovation.

In her new role, Rupali Gupta will oversee the People & Culture function across Captain Fresh’s international operations, which include offices in India, the United States, Europe (Spain, France, and Poland), and the UAE.

As Captain Fresh accelerates its global expansion, Rupali’s expertise will be critical in aligning talent management efforts.

She will also play a key role in integrating diverse cultures and building a high-performance organization across these regions.

Her role will be central to ensuring that the company maintains its unique culture while expanding its global footprint.

Extensive Experience in Human Resources

Rupali Gupta brings over 20 years of experience in human resources and consulting to her new position at Captain Fresh.

She has held senior leadership roles at prestigious organizations such as Korn Ferry, Mercer, Mundipharma, Standard Chartered Bank, and Accenture.

Her extensive track record includes spearheading culture transformation, organizational design, leadership development, HR transformation, and change management.

Rupali’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Captain Fresh, as the company is scaling rapidly both organically and inorganically.

Utham Gowda, Founder and Group CEO of Captain Fresh, commented on Gupta’s appointment, stating, “With more than half our workforce now based internationally, Rupali’s extensive experience across diverse global organizations will play a pivotal role in strengthening our organizational culture as we continue to scale.”

He added, “We are confident in her leadership to enhance our talent ecosystem and foster a cohesive culture.”

Captain Fresh Prepares for IPO and Future Prospects

The company is building a truly global supply chain network that seamlessly integrates multi-species supply with multi-geography demand.

It also fosters a cohesive culture as the company scales to new heights in the global markets.
