JioStar Appoints Disney Star’s Rishi Gaind as Head – HR

In a strategic move to bolster its leadership team, JioStar, the newly merged entity of Star India and Viacom18, has appointed Rishi Gaind as Head- Human Resources.

This appointment comes as part of JioStar’s broader initiative to drive growth and innovation following its merger with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and The Walt Disney Company.

Rishi Gaind’s Role at JioStar as Head HR

As the Head – Human Resources at JioStar, Rishi will be responsible for overseeing the HR strategy, talent management, and employee engagement across the newly merged entity.

His expertise in institutionalizing comprehensive talent development practices will be crucial in ensuring a smooth integration of the two organizations and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Under Rishi’s leadership, Disney Star has become an aspirational employer, known for its inclusive and comprehensive talent development practices.

He has redesigned several company policies around inclusion, diversity, and employee benefits, resulting in higher retention rates.

Rishi has also played a key role in setting up HR practices, strategy, and talent for Hotstar, which has grown to become one of the most downloaded streaming apps in the world.

Rishi Gaind’s Background

Head HR Rishi Gaind brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the Head of Human Resources at Disney Star since April 2019.

Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Star India from 2002 to 2019.

During his tenure, Rishi has been instrumental in leading the overall strategy for human resources, talent management, leadership development, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as employee engagement across TV, films, and OTT businesses.

Leadership Team at JioStar and Vision for Future

The leadership team at JioStar is comprised of industry veterans and dynamic leaders who will drive the company’s ambitious goals.

Nita M. Ambani serves as the Chairperson, while Uday Shankar is the Vice Chairperson, providing strategic guidance to the joint venture.

The team includes co-CEOs Kevin Vaz (entertainment across platforms), Kiran Mani (digital), and Sanjog Gupta (sports), each leading critical business divisions.

JioStar aims to redefine the media and entertainment landscape in India by leveraging the strengths of both Star India and Viacom18.
