Kirloskar Oil Engines Names Sharukh Head – Comp. and Benefits

Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited (KOEL) has appointed Sharukh Vazifdar as its new Head of Compensation & Benefits.

With over two decades of experience in rewards strategy, HR transformation, and organizational design, Sharukh’s appointment marks a pivotal moment in KOEL’s journey toward aligning people practices with business growth and innovation.

The Pune-headquartered engineering giant, known for its diesel engines and power generation solutions, is sharpening its focus on agile HR practices and employee-centric frameworks as it expands its global footprint.

A Career Rooted in Rewards Strategy and HR Innovation

Sharukh Vazifdar brings a rich and diverse background in compensation design, performance-linked pay, and total rewards strategy.

Prior to joining KOEL, he founded RewardCraft, a boutique consultancy specializing in:

  • Compensation benchmarking
  • Incentive plan design
  • Job evaluation and workforce planning
  • Organization structuring and HR analytics

Through RewardCraft, Sharukh advised organizations across sectors, helping them balance business objectives with employee engagement through tailored rewards frameworks.

Global and Cross-Industry Experience

Before his entrepreneurial stint, Sharukh led the global compensation practice at Mattr (Canada), managing rewards across 11 countries.

His earlier roles include:

  • Head of Rewards – India at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he restructured compensation systems in the pharmaceutical sector
  • Leadership roles at Godrej Properties and Godrej Investment Advisers, where he optimized wage bills and led large-scale compensation transformations
  • Strategic HR positions at Alkem Laboratories and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, overseeing rewards for thousands of employees across domestic and international markets

This cross-industry experience has equipped him with a holistic understanding of workforce dynamics, especially in high-growth and regulated environments.

Sharukh holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), one of India’s premier HR institutions.

He has also served as guest faculty at NMIMS, teaching advanced compensation with a unique blend of psychological and economic principles—a testament to his thought leadership in the HR domain.
