IT giant, Cognizant Technology Solutions has responded to recent social media criticism regarding its entry-level salary packages, emphasizing that it offers competitive pay for fresh engineering graduates.

The IT giant clarified that salaries for fresh engineers range from Rs 4 to 12 lakh annually, depending on the role, skill set, and industry certifications.

The lower salary of Rs 2.52 lakh, which sparked backlash, was intended for non-engineering undergraduates, not engineering graduates.

Surya Gummadi, EVP and President of Cognizant Americas, reaffirmed that the firm’s compensation for engineers is among the best in the industry.

Addressing Misinformation and Highlighting Training Investments

Cognizant faced ridicule for offering salary hikes as low as 1%, but the company clarified that this reflects the lower end of the 1-5% range based on individual performance.

The firm emphasized its commitment to investing in its employees by spending Rs 2-3 lakh per associate on training and upskilling in advanced technologies.

Cognizant also highlighted that it hires non-engineering graduates for various administrative roles and provides substantial training to integrate them into the IT industry.

Expanding Operations and Fostering Talent Development

With over 70% of its global workforce based in India, Cognizant continues to expand its operations, opening new centers in Bhubaneswar and Indore, and growing its presence in Hyderabad.

Gummadi, who has risen through the ranks over two and a half decades, highlighted Cognizant’s commitment to unlocking the full potential of India’s talent pool.

The company invests in continuous training, higher education sponsorships, and leadership development programs, empowering its employees to stay at the forefront of innovation and advance their careers in the technology industry.
