Ratan Naval Tata, a towering figure in Indian industry and chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, passed away late Wednesday night, Oct 9, 2024, at the age of 86. He had been undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for several days.

Known for his transformative leadership, Ratan Tata was more than just the head of one of India’s most prestigious business conglomerates. He steered the Tata Group into the global spotlight, leaving a legacy marked by innovation, integrity, and commitment to social responsibility. Under his leadership, the group expanded its footprint across the globe, staying true to its ethical principles.

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” said Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran in a heartfelt statement. He described Tata as “a mentor, guide, and friend” and lauded his philanthropic work, noting that his initiatives in education and healthcare have touched millions of lives.
