Cognizant has officially launched a 600-workforce strong TechFin Centre in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar, marking a strategic expansion in its Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector operations.

The facility, inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, is expected to serve as a global hub for advanced technology solutions catering to Cognizant’s BFSI clients.

The company plans to scale the workforce to 2,000 employees over the next three years, reinforcing its commitment to digital engineering, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

Cognizant Strategic Expansion and Workforce Growth

Cognizant’s new centre in GIFT City aligns with its broader strategy to expand into smaller cities such as Bhubaneswar and Indore, where attrition rates are lower compared to established hubs like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

To populate the centre, Cognizant will:

  • Transfer employees from other locations within India.
  • Conduct on-campus and off-campus hiring drives in Gujarat.
  • Engage with educational institutions to recruit fresh talent.

The company has leased 60,000 square feet in GIFT SEZ, where similar techfin centres by Wipro and Infosys are also expected to emerge.

Technology Offerings and Future Expansion

Initially, Cognizant’s GIFT City centre will focus on:

  • Digital engineering
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data analytics

Over time, the company plans to expand service offerings to include:

  • Enterprise application support for platforms like SAP and Oracle
  • Engineering solutions for manufacturing clients

Cognizant’s Chief Financial Officer Jatin Dalal emphasized that 30% of the company’s global revenue comes from the BFSI sector, making the GIFT City expansion a critical investment.

Employee Well-Being and Workplace Amenities

The new centre prioritizes employee well-being, featuring:

  • Wellness zones
  • A fully equipped gym
  • Yoga spaces
  • A medical centre
  • Dedicated mother’s rooms for nursing women

These amenities reflect Cognizant’s commitment to creating a supportive work environment for its employees.
