India’s second-largest IT major, Infosys is all set to operate its Hubballi campus from August 1st, 2022. The only IT SEZ in North Karnataka.

With the efforts of the Infosys Hubballi team, the tech giant has finally agreed to start operations from its Hubli campus. However, Infosys has not released any official statement on this.

In the first phase, it will employ around 1400 employees. The total capacity is around 5000 employees.

This will help the talent from the North Karnataka region to move to Hubballi as it will be near to natives. For recreational activities, Hubballi is surrounded by many tourist places such as Hampi, Badavi Caves, Pattadakallu, Kudalasangama, and Dandeli.

The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board allotted 43.05 acres of land under the special economic zone (SEZ) category. The company developed a campus with a built-up area of 3.64 lakh sqft by 2018, which has in the last four years.

A group in Hubballi launched the online petition to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, IT and BT Minister C S Ashwath Narayan, Infosys board of directors chairman Nandan Nilekani, and others. So that the campus could be started as soon as possible. Though, the government assured of giving all support to start its Hubballi campus.

It has been suggested that If Infosys don’t want to move its staff from Bengaluru, it can move a few managers, who can recruit new staff to start the Hubballi campus.

Infosys has not yet decided on it and recently it announced opening its campuses at Vizag, Kolkata, Indore, and other cities to go near to talent pool. The move is aimed to empower the local talent.

Infosys has announced that it has reached a total headcount of 3,35,186 employees in Q1FY23, with the net addition of 21,171 people in the first quarter ending on June 30.
