According to a Business Insider report originally attributed to The Wall Street Journal, Meta and Google were among the top-paying public companies in 2022.

A real-estate-investment company, Vici Properties topped the list with just 22 employees at the top with a median salary of around $415,000.

Meta placed the second position offering employees a median salary of nearly $300,000. However, Google’s parent company Alphabet at number three with a median wage of $280,000.

The analysis was performed by Wall Street Journal. Additionally, The Journal analyzed data compiled by public-company analysts MyLogIQ about the median salaries at 278 companies in the S&P 500.

META layoffs

Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a March blog post that he would cut 10,000 jobs across two rounds of layoffs in late April and late May, even though Meta already eliminated 11,000 roles in November.

Recently, the company will also be ending its Work From Home with employees asked to come office 3 days a week.

The company spokesperson said, “We’re committed to distributed work, and we’re confident people can make a meaningful impact both from the office and at home.”

“We’re also committed to continuously refining our model to foster the collaboration, relationships, and culture necessary for employees to do their best work”, the report added.

The policy will be effective starting September 5. Additionally, the employees that were hired for a remote position in an area where there is no office will not be impacted by the new policy.

Google Layoffs

Google announced that it was firing six percent of its total workforce or 12,000 employees in January. Recently, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai has claimed that the ex-Googlers created 2,000 startups.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “Googlers have left to create over 2,000 startups, last I counted, and I think that’s great. Some of them are cloud customers down the line for us.”

“Some of them come back. I think it’s healthy,” Sundar Pichai added.

He further said, “Our work toward sharpening our focus—I view it as enduring work. We are constantly trying to make the company more efficient.”
