Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has announced the development of a 500,000 square feet manufacturing facility for its IT business at Horizon Industrial Park near Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu.
The project, to be executed in two phases, is a significant step in the company’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, sustainability, and operational excellence.
It will generate 1,500 jobs and enhance Schneider’s production and distribution capabilities across southern India.
Schneider Electric Project Overview: Two-Phase Development with High-Tech Infrastructure
The facility will be developed in partnership with Horizon Industrial Parks, a logistics and industrial infrastructure provider backed by Blackstone Real Estate funds.
The first phase will include:
- A dust-free manufacturing unit
- Modern office spaces
- Expanded industrial power capacity
- Advanced fire safety systems
- Optimized workspace layouts
This phase will support an initial workforce of 1,500 employees, including both direct and indirect roles.
The second phase will involve a custom-built, high-spec facility tailored to Schneider Electric’s advanced operational needs, with completion expected within seven months.
Sustainability at the Core: Green Building and Smart Systems
The upcoming facility is being developed at Horizon Industrial Park in Hosur, which is pre-certified ‘Platinum’ by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
Schneider Electric’s new unit will incorporate a range of eco-friendly design elements, including:
- Roof insulation using glass wool
- Rooftop solar panels to enhance thermal efficiency
- Pre-engineered building (PEB) design with skylights for natural lighting
- Advanced ventilation systems for optimal air quality and energy efficiency
The facility will also feature an integrated Building Management System (BMS) with:
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations
- HVAC controls
- Smart lighting sensors
Engineers designed these features to minimize energy consumption and support Schneider’s long-term sustainability goals.
Strategic Location: Enhancing Market Reach and Responsiveness
Located near Bengaluru and Chennai, the facility’s strategic position will improve connectivity and distribution access across key southern markets.
This will enable Schneider Electric to reduce logistics delays, enhance responsiveness, and scale export-ready capabilities.
According to Deepak Sharma, Zone President, Greater India, MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, “This collaboration underscores our commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and operational excellence.”
Deepak added, “The new facility will significantly enhance our manufacturing capabilities and allow us to incorporate cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices.”
