According to TOI, an Indian IT major, Wipro has sent a communication to campus recruits that it will be onboarding the fresher candidates in a phased manner.

Over the past couple of months, freshers have been complaining that IT companies have been delaying the onboarding process for more than six months.

Wipro in the mail said, “We would like to inform you that we are in the process of planning your onboarding with us as per business requirements.” The company further said that it will honor offers made to all these candidates.

Earlier it was reported that Wipro had postponed the joining date of its more than 2000 students/employees, despite their compliance with its assessment guidelines. Post this Capgemini also delayed the onboarded IT professionals.

Earlier, the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate also shared the information through a tweet “@Wipro has no right to play with the future of students & employees. We are seeking. @LabourMinistry intervention to stop this unethical practice which has jeopardized lives of more than 2000 campus hires and employees.”

Wipro was not the only IT company that delayed the onboarding process. Mindtree has delayed the onboarding of employees by more than 10 months. Accenture reportedly confirmed hiring in April but is delaying the onboarding till 2023.

According to Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES, an IT employees association, nearly 30,000 IT professionals have been impacted by the delay in onboarding at top IT firms like Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Capgemini, and others.

“The ballpark figure could be around 30,000 professionals because it is an ongoing process. Throughout the year, campus placements are conducted by these IT companies”, said Harpreet Singh Saluja.

He further added, “We are in touch with thousands of students, this figure can cross 30,000 also.”
