Meesho, a leading e-commerce platform, is gearing up for the festive season by significantly expanding its workforce. The company has hired a staggering 8.5 lakh seasonal staff within its seller and logistics network.Â
What’s remarkable is that a substantial portion of these new hires comes from tier-3 and tier-4 cities—a move that underscores Meesho’s commitment to empowering local businesses and driving economic opportunities across India.
Meesho Hiring Surge: A 70% Increase
Meesho’s seasonal hiring this year represents a whopping 70% increase compared to the previous year. The recruitment drive includes two key segments:
Sellers’ Workforce: Meesho’s sellers have brought in 5 lakh seasonal workers to meet the surge in demand during the festive season. These workers play critical roles in managing inventory, order processing, and customer interactions.
Gig Workers via Logistics Providers: Meesho has collaborated with third-party logistics providers to hire approximately 3.5 lakh gig workers. Logistics partners such as Delhivery, Ecom Express, Shadowfax, Xpressbees, and Meesho’s own vertical, Valmo, are actively involved.
These gig workers handle essential tasks related to first-mile, middle-mile, and last-mile logistics, including picking, sorting, loading, unloading, and managing returns.

Tier-3 and Tier-4 Cities Take Center Stage
Meesho’s strategic focus on tier-3 and tier-4 cities is a game-changer. More than 60% of the newly hired seasonal staff hail from these smaller towns and rural areas.
By tapping into local talent pools, Meesho is not only creating employment opportunities but also fostering financial inclusion in regions that often get overlooked.
