According to the reports of Business Insider, Google is ending contracts with firms such as Cognizant and Accenture, which employ workers involved in supporting various YouTube services.

Google’s reduction will impact Cognizant and Accenture. However, the exact number of impacted Cognizant workers is not clear.

Additionally, the cuts were announced to Cognizant workers at the beginning of May. Moreover, the effective end dates for their employment will range from May 31 to the end of July.

In the report of Business Insider a spokesperson said, “As we’ve said, we are managing our spend with our suppliers and vendors more effectively to create durable savings where possible.”

“This work has been happening for well over a year across Alphabet and spans dozens of our major suppliers in the U.S. and abroad. Any suggestion that these changes are due to reasons beyond increasing our efficiency and cost savings is untrue”, the spokesperson added.

Cognizant-affected workers will be placed on a “bench” policy. The employees will be provided with five weeks of paid time to undergo training.

This will provide an explore new internal job opportunities before their employment is terminated. However, it is estimated that approximately 120 to 150 Accenture workers will lose their positions.

In January, Google parent Alphabet announced the sack of 12,000 employees. The company CEO took responsibility for the layoffs.

Earlier Google had announced to elimination or reduction of several perks, including some of the company’s micro kitchens.

This provided employees with free snacks like cereal, espresso, and seltzer water. The company was making changes in its companywide benefits as it seeks to reallocate funds and create cost-cutting measures.

The company has suspended the provision of snacks and staplers to employees and has also asked employees to share desks.

Additionally, it suspended its mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy for employees worldwide. The policy was implemented in December 2021.
