In a significant development, Akriti Chopra, one of the co-founders of Zomato, has stepped down from her role as Chief People Officer.

After dedicating 13 years to the company, Akriti’s departure marks the end of an era at the food delivery giant.

Zomato Chief People Officer Resignation

Akriti Chopra formally submitted her resignation to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, effective immediately on September 27, 2024.

In her heartfelt email, she expressed gratitude for the enriching journey and wished the company well. Her decision to resign came as a surprise to many, given her long-standing association with Zomato.

Her email read, “Deepi, as discussed, I am formally submitting my resignation, effective today, 27 September, 2024. These 13 years have been an incredibly enriching journey.”

She added, “Thank you for everything. I’m just a call away. Wishing you and Eternal all the very best.”

Akriti Chopra’s journey at Zomato began in 2011 when she joined as a senior manager in finance and operations. Over the years, she played pivotal roles within the organization.

Notably, she spearheaded the establishment and expansion of Zomato’s legal and finance departments during her tenure as Chief Financial Officer.

Her commitment to nurturing a positive work culture and employee engagement led her to the position of Chief People Officer.

Impact and Legacy

As Chief People Officer, Akriti Chopra championed initiatives that fostered employee well-being, diversity, and professional growth. Her leadership contributed significantly to Zomato’s success story.

Colleagues remember her as approachable, empathetic, and dedicated—a true advocate for the company’s people-centric values.

Zomato promptly notified the stock exchanges about Akriti’s resignation. The company acknowledged her immense contributions and wished her well in her future endeavors.

The departure of a co-founder and a key leader undoubtedly leaves a void, but Zomato remains committed to its mission of revolutionizing the food delivery industry.
