EPFO Introduces Member-Friendly PF Transfer Reforms

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced significant reforms to simplify the process of transferring provident fund (PF) accounts.

These changes aim to enhance service delivery and ensure ease of living for its members.

EPFO: Simplified Transfer Process

EPFO has streamlined the PF transfer process by removing the requirement for employer intervention in most cases.

Members whose e-KYC is fully compliant can now submit their PF transfer claims online directly through EPFO using an Aadhaar-based OTP.

This eliminates the need for any involvement from the previous or current employer.

The revised process is expected to directly forward over 1.20 crore out of 1.30 crore total transfer claims without requiring employer intervention.

This will significantly reduce the turnaround time for processing transfer claims and minimize member grievances related to transfer issues.

EPFO has also simplified the process for updating member profiles.

Members with a validated Universal Account Number (UAN) linked to Aadhaar can now update their personal details, such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, and marital status, without the need for uploading documents or employer certification.

This will eliminate delays caused by employer approval for joint declarations.

Benefits for Members

The streamlined process will benefit around 3.9 lakh members whose requests are pending at various stages.

Additionally, members can self-approve corrections for common errors in their personal details, further reducing the need for employer verification.

These reforms reflect the government’s commitment to simplifying processes and improving the efficiency of EPFO services.

By leveraging technology and introducing member-friendly policies, EPFO aims to deliver seamless and secure services to its members.
