Apple changes its Covid-19 policy, ends unlimited sick leave policy

An American multinational technology company, Apple corporate employees started working from the office in April 2022, and employees were asked to work in person at least once in a week.

Post this in September the employees started working from office three days a week. Now, Apple has rolled back some of its Covid policies as covid cases are getting down and have been very low.

The new rule and changes to its Covid-19 policy will come into effect from Jan 30, 2023.

The Platformer’s Zoe Schiffer shared the tweet saying, “Apple is making changes to its Covid-19 policy, and will stop mandating employees test before coming into the office. It’s also rolling back its special sick leave policy, which previously allowed for unlimited sick leave for workers experiencing covid symptoms.”

“Testing policy rolls out Jan 30, sick leave ends in August. Until then, employees get a maximum of 5 days sick leave, if they test positive for Covid”, he added.

Recently, Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook took a 40% pay cut in 2023. The pay cut was based on the balance sheet feedback, Apple’s exceptional performance, and a recommendation. The current salary of Tim Cook was USD 49 million (Rs 3,98,75,71,000) in 2023.

Earlier, Tim Cook earned USD 99.4 million in 2022. The salary package includes USD 3 million in base salary, about USD 83 million in stock awards, and a bonus. In 2021 his previous salary was USD 98.7 million.

Previously, Apple also started hiring employees for retail stores in India. The company has planned to set up physical retail locations in India. The company planned to fill other roles as the technology company prepares to open stores in the country.

Earlier, Apple supplier Foxconn also announced the construction of large hostel complexes to accommodate as many as 60,000 workers near its manufacturing facility near Chennai. The company wants to quadruple its Indian workforce in the next 2 years.
