Walmart expands online healthcare facility for employees

The American multinational retail company, Walmart has introduced the health and wellbeing of its employees.

The company has expanded the virtual primary care, building on the traditional telehealth service for occasional sick visits, to allow Walmart associates and their families the option to develop long-standing relationships with quality doctors across the country.

The company is extending care coverage through its employee health insurance programme to employees in 28 states across the US. The has announced virtual primary care services for its associates.

States included in the expansion: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming. We already offer the benefit in all other states, except Hawaii.

Associates and their covered dependents must be enrolled in a Walmart self-insured medical plan.

The initiative will offer the employees traditional telehealth service for occasional sick visits, including virtual care options for digestive health and physical therapy. Furthermore, there will be options for basic at-home lab work starting in early 2024.

Walmart’s pilot programme demonstrated an 11 percent reduction in the total cost of care. indicating the potential for cost savings and improved health outcomes through this innovative healthcare approach.
