Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced that 20% of its employees over 6 lakh headcount are now working from their allocated workplace. As some of the staff working from the office, TCS's work-from-home policy is gradually being phased down.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced that 20% of its employees over 6 lakh headcount are now working from their allocated workplace. As some of the staff working from the office, TCS’s work-from-home policy is gradually being phased down.

Rajesh Gopinathan – CEO & Managing Director, TCS said, “The 25/25 plan must be carried out in a more controlled manner, and the route to that will first require returning to a more regular working environment, followed by the permanent hybrid model.”

“We’ll keep pushing it up to our normal levels — 50-60-70-80% — as we move forward. We should see consistent development on it every month from now on”, Gopinathan added.

During the interaction with media following the announcement of the April-June quarter results, Rajesh Gopinathan stated that for the time being, the business will push the return to office more until it reaches pre-pandemic levels, or at least 80%. Following that, the TCS 25/25 model will be implemented, he stated.

Under the 25X25 model, employees will not be required to work more than 25% of the time. Only 25% of staff in project teams can be co-located.

“This model will require no more than 25% of our associates to work from an office at any given point in time, and they need not spend more than 25% of their time in the office. But an important part of the journey to the 25/25 model is to first bring people back to physical offices and gradually transition into the hybrid work model” The company said on the 25X25 model.

TCS has reported a 5.2 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 9,478 crore for the first quarter ended June 30.

The consolidated revenue from operations increased 16.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 52,758 crore in the first quarter of FY23. TCS has declared an interim dividend of Rs 8 per equity share of Re 1 each.

The company has added 14,136 employees in the April to June quarter with a total workforce of 6,06,331 employees globally and women account for 35.5 percent of TCS workforce.
