GCCs to Create 500,000 Jobs in India by 2026

Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India are experiencing a sharp rise in hiring activity in 2025, driven by their evolving role from support hubs to strategic innovation centers.

With over 1,600 GCCs currently operating in India and projections suggesting this number could reach 2,200 by 2030, the sector is poised to generate more than 500,000 new jobs by 2026.

This surge reflects a broader shift in how multinational corporations view India—not just as a cost-effective destination, but as a core engine for global talent and transformation.

GCCs Move Beyond Back-Office Functions

Traditionally, GCCs were established to handle IT services, finance operations, and customer support for global firms.

Today, they are leading initiatives in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, product design, and data engineering.

According to the Nasscom-Zinnov India GCC Landscape Report, the sector’s market value is expected to reach $99–105 billion, with total headcount climbing to 2.5–2.8 million over the next five years.

This transformation is being driven by the need for agile, future-ready teams that can support global innovation mandates.

GCCs are now central to product development, strategic decision-making, and digital transformation efforts across industries.

GCCs Hiring Fresh Talent at Scale

One of the most significant trends in 2025 is the increased hiring of fresh graduates.

In Bengaluru alone, 17 percent of GCCs plan to boost fresher intake by more than 50 percent this year.

This reflects a strategic shift toward building long-term talent pipelines and reducing reliance on lateral hiring.

Companies are investing in onboarding programs, internal skilling platforms, and mentorship initiatives to prepare young professionals for high-impact roles.

The demand spans across engineering, analytics, finance, and digital operations, with a strong emphasis on adaptability and digital fluency.

Competitive Compensation and Career Growth

GCCs are offering compensation packages that often exceed those of traditional IT services firms.

These include performance-linked bonuses, global mobility opportunities, and access to cutting-edge projects.

Many GCCs are also enhancing employee experience through hybrid work models, wellness programs, and leadership development tracks.

This focus on career growth and employee well-being is helping GCCs attract and retain top talent, especially in competitive markets like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai.

Government Support and Ecosystem Expansion

Government initiatives such as Digital India and Startup India have played a key role in strengthening the GCC ecosystem.

State governments are also supporting the sector by developing IT parks, skilling centers, and regulatory frameworks that encourage foreign investment.

Industry bodies like Nasscom are working with GCCs to align academic curricula with industry needs, promote ethical hiring practices, and standardize job roles.

This collaborative approach is helping India maintain its position as a global hub for technology and innovation.
