Amazon India has announced the creation of over 1.5 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its operations network to manage the anticipated spike in customer demand during the upcoming festive season.

The recruitment drive spans more than 400 cities, including major urban hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, as well as tier-2 and tier-3 locations such as Coimbatore, Indore, Raipur, and Jalgaon.

The seasonal roles include both direct and indirect employment across fulfilment centres (FCs), sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery stations.

These positions are designed to support Amazon’s logistics and delivery infrastructure during peak sale events such as the Great Indian Festival.

Focus on Inclusive Hiring and Associate Well-being

Amazon India has emphasized its commitment to inclusive hiring practices.

Thousands of women associates and over 2,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) have been onboarded as part of this seasonal expansion.

The company noted that many of these associates return year after year, with some transitioning into long-term roles.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia, stated, “This festive season, we remain focused on providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers in every serviceable pin code across India.”

He added, “To achieve this, we’ve strengthened our fulfilment and logistics network with over 1.5 lakh additional people.”

Abhinav also reiterated Amazon’s commitment to safety and equity: “We prioritize the well-being of all associates—whether they’re working in our buildings or delivering packages to customers. Our work environment includes social security benefits and supports financial wellness.”

Amazon Providing Infrastructure and Health Support Initiatives

To support the expanded workforce, Amazon has scaled up its infrastructure and associate welfare programs.

The company has increased the number of Ashray rest centres to 100 nationwide, offering safe and comfortable spaces for delivery associates to rest between shifts.

Additionally, Amazon has launched a health and wellness initiative that provides free medical check-ups to over 80,000 delivery associates.

These services include eye exams, dental care, BMI assessments, and physician consultations, delivered directly at last-mile delivery stations.

The company also offers on-site first aid facilities (AMCARE) at fulfilment centres and has introduced the Early Access to Pay (EATP) program, allowing associates to withdraw up to 80% of their accrued basic salary within the first 20 days of each month.

Strengthening Reach in Smaller Markets

Amazon’s hiring strategy reflects a broader push to deepen its presence in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where demand for online shopping continues to grow.

During its Prime Day sale in July 2025, nearly 70% of new Prime sign-ups came from smaller towns, and a majority of small and medium-sized sellers reported higher order volumes from these regions.

The company’s fulfilment network now spans 15 states, offering over 43 million cubic feet of storage space.

It operates sortation centres in 19 states and nearly 2,000 delivery stations, both Amazon-operated and partner-run.
