88% of professionals in India looking for a new job in 2024

The report from LinkedIn which is the world’s largest professional network, has revealed that nearly 88 percent of professionals in India are considering a new job in 2024, an increase of 4% from last year.

We look at the reasons for job changes, the desire for a better work-life balance (42 percent) and higher compensation (37 percent) are the biggest reasons for mulling changing jobs.

The new research from LinkedIn shows that skill sets for jobs have changed by 25% since 2015 and are projected to shift by 65% by 2030 globally.

The report also suggested the 25 fastest-growing jobs in India include Closing Managers, Influencer Marketing Specialists, Design Specialists, Drone Pilots, Recruiters, Sales Development Representatives, Demand Generation Specialist and Associate, Customs Officers, Growth Managers, Investor Relations Managers, Political Analysts, Delivery Consultants, Client Advisors, Creative Strategists, Chief Revenue Officers, Campaign Associates, Sustainability Managers, Customer Success Executives, Media Buyer, Quantitative Developer, Fund Analyst, Proposal Writers, Product Security Engineer, BIM Technicians, and Insights analysts.

Nirajita Banerjee, Career Expert and Sr. Managing Editor for LinkedIn India says, “As Indian professionals take charge of their careers in 2024, it’s going to get increasingly competitive with more professionals entering the job market.”

According to the report, 42 percent look for better work-life balance and 37 percent need higher wages. Moreover, 81 percent of professionals have also said that AI can help make their job hunt more efficient and productive.

Around 72 percent of professionals interviewed said they have changed their job search approach, like experimenting with new formats such as video and digital resumes.

The LinkedIn report is based on research by Censuswide on 1,097 professionals in full-time or part-time employment across India between November 24 and December 12, 2023.
